The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

It’s been a while since I updated a new post because I’ve been a bit busy lately but today, I want to review this small little bottle to you guys. People with acne, this one is for you!

Let’s look at the ingredients:

Aqua, Alcohol Denat., Polysorbate 60, Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil, Limonene, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil, Citral, Citronellol, Leptospermum Petersonii Oil, Tocopherol.

The benefits of tea tree:

Tea tree oil is an essential oil that has so many benefits as a skin treatment.

Tea tree oil is used to sooth and heal your skin, if you have itchiness or irritation. It also has anti-inflammatory effects that relieves painful irritated skin, which will reduce swelling and redness. It can also be used on cuts, infections and wounds helping them to heal faster.

Tea tree oil is a fantastic oil to be used on acne skin, it has as I wrote anti-inflammatory effects and also antimicrobial properies which helps to reduce acne and also acne scars.

How to use tea tree oil on your skin

Tea tree oil can be quite strong for some skin and therefor should be used with caution. If you are a beginner to tea tree oil then you can mix it with your other face oils or moisturizers so that it isn’t too harsh on your skin.

You can also use it as a spot treatment, where you use a cottonpad or cottonstick to top the oil on your needed areas.

Be careful to not use too much tea tree oil, since it can “counteract”. Use just enough to cover the problem areas.

The tea tree oil on my skin

I’ve used this for 2 months now, not everyday but on days where I see some pimples popping through. I swear that it is wonderful. First off, I feel like I must warn you about the smell/scent (depends on how you feel about it). I love the scent, it’s woody, tree-y(?) and also very nature-y haha. For me, I enjoy these scents more than perfumy scents that I know contains tons of chemicals.

Second, I feel a tad bit of a tingly feeling after the first uses. It was pretty much expected since I read before hand about the oil.

Third, I always wait for it to dry before I put any other things on my skin or before I sleep. Don’t want it to smudge everywhere.

Forth, the first times I mixed it with my moisturizer but know I use a cotton pad and gently pad it on my problem areas, NOT my whole face.

Fifth, I don’t use this oil when I use AHAS, BHAS, retinols, vitamin Cs and other acids or chemicals that night dry out my skin or irritate it.

The oil dries out my pimples, heals them and I really see that my pimples disappear really fast. The old scars also fade much faster than before.

The only downside is that my skin can feel a bit dryer than when I don’t use it. Therefor it is great for oily acne skin. If you have dry skin and want to use this, use a good moisturizer after, and don’t use the oil too frequently. I use it 3 times a week.

I think it really works and it is ideal for oily acne skin, I will continue to buy it and use it frequently. I may want to try other brands of tea tree oil as well, just to see if there sre any differents to them.

Overall, I am happy with the product and I give it a 4,5⭐️ I would give it a 5 stars if it was not drying.
