What is an essence?
Essence is used after cleansing, toning and before other products. The texture of an essence is very thin, liquid-y and lightweight. Essences is layered after a toner for more moisturization and often has a higher percentage of active ingredients that may benefit the skin’s preparation to absorb other products better.
Essences are ofter a bit thicker than toners therefore it is best to use it by patting the product on your face with your hands. Using a cotton pad would just waste the product, but hey.. you can still do that if you want to.
Snail mucin is very popular in the Asian beauty industry for many years, it’s getting more and more popular in the Western beauty industry these couple of years. Snail mucin has high hydrating properties that smoothes the texture of our skin and make our acne scars and wrinkles fade. This is thanks to the Glycolic Acid that helps your cells to produce collagen and elastin. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid which is known for being a magnet for moisture and helps your cells to retain as much of the moisture as possible. Snail mucin contains Allantoin, which had wound-healing properties which also heals your scars and skincells.
Those are A LOT of benefits for your skin right? So what about Bee venom?
Bee venom has been popular everywhere in the world and is known for it’s many benefits for the skin. First of all, it has a main component that is called Melittin. It’s a protein that causes increased blood circulations, which increases the production of elastin and collagen under the inner layers of the skin.
It has been called “natural botox” because it stimulates facial muscles and smoothes, firms fine lines and wrinkles.
Both Snail Mucin and Bee venom are cruelty free and the animals are not harmed during the process.
The Snail Bee High Content Essence
The Essence is pretty thick compared to other essences, maybe that’s why it’s called “high concent” essence? I don’t really know.
The texture is gel like, and has no smell at all… some of you must have been thinking that it stinks like snail slime or something. No it doesn’t, doesn’t smell anything att all.
It dries quickly on your skin, so you have to work fast. I got glowy and moisturized immediately and it’s really comfortable on my skin.
I think it’s a perfect “base” for my other products but I feel like it is best while using with some of my products but not all. I’ve been trying it with many products and this works great with some and will break me out with others.
The essence gives me glow and moisture but otherwise it doesn’t do anything else. I like it but don’t love it or feel like I can’t live without it. I have also used it with the Snail Bee High Content Steam Cream from the same brand but I didn’t notice a significant difference from just using other creams. I’ll do a review about the steam cream some other time.
Overall I will give the essence a 3,5⭐️! It is as I said before a good base for my other products but it’s not the greatest.
