Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner.

Toners oh toners! I love them and they’re one of few things I need after cleansing my face. I bought this toner in December last year and have been using this for a while now, might as well review it for you guys.

Here are the ingredients:

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Aqua (Water), Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Beta-Glucan, Polyglutamic Acid, Aspalathus Linearis Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Salicylic Acid (0.5%), Althaea Rosea Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Arginine, Pentylene Glycol, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Polysorbate 20, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Xanthan Gum

The company Benton: Benton is a cosmetics company from South Korea and its name is inspired from the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” where Benjamin Button grows younger with time. The company’s wishes are to restore your skin back in time when it was still youthful while using healthy ingredients. They do not test on animals.

What is a toner and why?

For those who don’t know: After cleansing your face with a face wash, soap or cleaner your face had been stripped off its natural oils and your pH level is unbalanced. With a toner, it will balance your pH level, moisturize your skin, remove toxic residues and skrink your pores.

You can look at it as a preparation step for your skincare routine to improve the functions of the other products better. Your face is like a sponge, when it’s wet or moisturized it absorbs things better than when it’s dry. Easy to understand right?

Aloe Vera and it’s properties.

Everyone should have an Aloe vera plant at home. First of all, it’s pretty. Then, it produces oxygen at night and improve the air in your home. It had tons and tons of benefits, you can eat it and put it directly on your skin too!

Have you ever got burnt? I have, badly and the only thing that actually helped is aloe vera. It calms and relieves the burnt area and quickly pushed the healing process. Aloe vera has anti-flammatory and cooling proterties, antidioxants and minerals which makes the skin heal faster.

For your skin, it will do wonders. Aloe vera gives a protective barrier for the skin with polyaccharides that give hydrating, aniti-flammatory benefits. It is rich in vitamins A, B, C, D and E, potassium, magnesium and zinc.

What is BHA?

BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) is an acid. I know, Acid sounds frightening and harsh on your skin but not this kind of acid. BHA is preferred for oily, acne-prone skin types because it’s an oil loving acid. It is for treating blackheads and whiteheads. So, BHA is used as an chemical exfoliate instead of the physical exfoliates that has grains, sugar and seeds in them for example.

BHA:
Salicylic acid: derived from the Willow Bark Tree and others.
Citric acid: derived from citrus fruits and considered a cross over acid. It can be an AHA or a BHA depending on its formulation.

It would not mix well with vitamin C products, retinol and the sun! Use sunscreen!

How was it for my skin?

I have big pores and that’s my struggle. I love toners that can minimize the appearance of my pores. The toner has a thicker consistency than some other watery toners, I don’t use a cottonpad to apply it but my hands to tap in lightly onto my skin. It doesn’t contain alcohol, and the first ingredient is Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water which is great! It absorbs immediately. The first time using it, I could feel something.. not really an itchy feeling but more like a tingly feeling but it wasn’t very noticable. It made my skin feel tight, moisturized and glowy. I have hormonal acne that comes when I’m at that time of the month, this did help a bit but not too much.

Watery texture

My opinions on this toner is that it’s good but not the best. I would recommend it towards the sunny seasons when your skin has been out in the sun and needs calming afterwards. It didn’t cause me any breakouts but didn’t stop my hormonal acne from coming either and did not do much for my pores. I would continue to use it but not as an everyday toner, I think I would use it for some days when my skin needs a bit of calming and relieving.

Lisa’s Opinions:

Overall, I would give it a 4/5⭐️ It does give my skin a glow, it is moisturizing and it does not have a scent. Which I LOVE because my skin is sensitive to some fragrances.
