The Body Shop: Chinese Ginseng & Rice clarifying polishing mask.

A few days ago, due to having so much spare time before getting on a train, I stumbled upon this cute jar of face mask in The Body Shop store and thought that I should try it out.

These are the ingredients of the mask:

So what’s so good about ginseng?

Ginseng has always been a popular traditional root in Asian countries like China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and more. . . It has many health benefits and is often used as traditional herbal medicine in capsule forms or tea. As for the skin, it has:

Anti aging benefits: ginseng contains a lot of phytonutrients which helps activating the skin’s metabolism.

Brightening complexions: ginseng is rich in vitamins and antidioxants which is good as an exfoliate for the skin to rid it of dead skincells.

Blood circulation and skin problems: ginseng is a great treatment for skin problems such as acne and eczema because of it’s anti-flammatory properties. It also improves blood circulation.

How about rice?

When I was little, my grandmother used to tell me to wash my face with rice water and it would make my skin smoother and brighter. I never really cared for these things but I loved the smell! Have you ever felt that ricey scent while it’s being cooked? Coming home from school and that scent just hits you in the face? Asian kids should know.. yeah that scent. I loved it, still do actually.

Rice contains natural antioxidants, B vitamins, E vitamins and also pitera. B and E vitamins are known to be great for the skin and pitera helps to boost cell regeneration which makes the skin brighter. Rice water also contains linoleic acid that has moisturizing benefits that will make your skin feel plump and soft.

How was it on my skin?

I have combination skin, which tend to be very dry in the winter and oily in the summer. It’s February now, so it’s quite dry. It’s also sensitive and can react to certain products, especielly those with added fragrance ingredients.

This is my skin after I washed it. (You will see a lot of baby hair in my pictures btw)

This is the mask’s texture, it’s not too thick and I love the ginseng and rice bits in it. Texture of The Body Shop mask

I loved the scent of the mask, it definitely had a scent of ginseng which is “softened” by the scent of rice. I did have a tingly feeling having it on (10 minutes) but I like that feeling so it doesn’t bother me much. Washing my face was very easy, it felt really clean and smooth. Looking in the mirror I feel like it’s brightened and my pores weren’t as visible as before. My skin glowed and I didn’t feel that it was dry or too tight. Oh, I changed hoodie before putting the mask on, didn’t want to dirty it.After the mask

Lisa’s Opinions:

The mask did exactly as it stated. My skin felt amazing after this. I didn’t need to use a lot of product for my whole face. The price for it in Sweden is 195kr and the jar is super cute.

I’ll give it 4,75/5 stars! ⭐️ It doesn’t get 5 because it can be quite dry for some skintypes.

Thank you for reading Lisa’s Opinions! 🌹
